We R Interactive Takes Award-Winning I AM PLAYR Mobile

We R Interactive has launched a mobile version of its award-winning social football game, I AM PLAYR. Available initially for iPhone, the new free ‘SOCCER PLAYR’ app is the first Facebook-connected mobile flick football game to integrate real football stars into the gameplay through video content.

The app lets users pitch their skills against Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Stewart Downing, and Jordan Henderson in four mini-games. Each game starts with a video clip of the footballer taking shots against targets as they move across a training ground wall, before turning to the camera and challenging the user to beat their score. The user is then flipped into the 3D challenge featuring the same target wall with the ball at their feet ready to take their turn. Further top football talent coming to SOCCER PLAYR includes Scott Parker. Users can buy power-ups, shields, unlock achievement cards and trigger a super control feature which creates a slow motion mode allowing more time to hit targets. Facebook friends can gift each other energy and compete against each other in a leader board.

I AM PLAYR is the first online football game to let users play the life of a professional footballer. Fusing live action video, interactive story-telling and first-person perspective 3D gameplay, innovative brand integrations flow seamlessly around the core narrative. The game has received a number of plaudits - including this year being nominated for a BAFTA Video Game Award; and taking the first ever Gold trophy in the new Branded Content and Entertainment category for ‘best use or integration of gaming’ at the Cannes Lions Awards 2012.

This is the first stage in We R Interactive’s mobile strategy. The coming months will see brands woven into SOCCER PLAYR and full integration with the I AM PLAYR web game. And an integrated web and mobile experience will be rolled out across the rest of its portfolio.
